The police officer deals with the conflicts on everyday basis to effectively interact with the citizens. However, there are also more structured roles which the police officer can play. By undertaking these roles, the law enforcement officer has more power and influence not only manage the conflict, but resolve it, or even transform it into the long-term cooperation.

In order to resolve the problem at certain extent, one of the options is Mediation.

The purpose of the training course is to provide the police officers with the basic knowledge about mediation as one of the ways to deal with conflict constructively.

After this block of instruction the participants will be able to:

1. Define the term “mediation” and find its place among different ways of dealing with conflicts constructively
2. Understand prerequisites of a successful mediation
3. Understand mediation as role and a three-stage mediation process
4. Explain other important aspects of the successful mediation.
