12th Annual Meeting of the OSCE Border Security and Management National Focal Points Network

Description

The meeting, organised by the Italian OSCE Chairmanship and the OSCE Transnational Threats Department/Border Security and Management Unit (TNTD/BSMU), aims at providing the NFPs with an opportunity to discuss emerging threats, risks, and available cross-border co-operation mechanisms to address them with consideration to the OSCE current and planned activities in the area of border security and management (BSM).

Summary

The Meeting will focus on modern approaches to border security and management in the face of emerging transnational threats and challenges. It will also provide the participants with the opportunity to learn about and discuss cross-border co-operation mechanisms to address transnational threats and challenges with consideration to the OSCE current and planned activities in the area of border security and management (BSM).

The Annual Meeting’s sessions will focus on evolving cross-border threats and challenges to border security and management in the OSCE area, combatting illicit trafficking in cultural property, innovative approaches and promotion of gender mainstreaming in border security and management, combating corruption in border security and management as well as cross border co-operation mechanisms to address such threats and challenges.

The meeting is open to officially designated NFPs and points of contact, relevant national experts, representatives of the OSCE field operations that address border security and management issues in their host country, and officials from international and regional organizations dealing with relevant issues that are willing to contribute to the discussions.
