A 52-day General Policing training course within the 20-week Basic Training Course is developed by the Kosovo Police Service School and designed to provide the recruits with the basic skills required of a police officer.
After satisfactorily completing basic police training in general policing and satisfactorily passing a series of examinations, the new officer may take up the roles and responsibilities of a probationary police officer.
The course is designed to provide the student with the basic skills required of a police officer.
It provides the foundation of basic training for the new police recruits. Special emphasis has been placed on the topics of human rights and democratic policing, traffic and patrol procedures, legal affairs, report writing and interviewing techniques and procedures in criminal investigation. The core subjects are divided into 48 topics. These topics have, in keeping with modern instructional techniques, been integrated throughout the basic program Lessons are designed to provide the student with the opportunity to apply techniques learned over the course of instruction in both practical and theoretical situations. Throughout the duration of the course the student will be tested with written quizzes and monthly exams. In addition there is a final examination at the end of the course.
