Summary

The Council of Europe Committee of Ministers recommends that governments of member states review their legislation with the aim of introducing the measures described by the recommendation.

The declaration also addresses issues such as adopting a multidimensional approach involving the civil society, the media as well as the relevant national and international bodies; raising awareness and prevention concerning human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation; developing assistance to and protection of the victims, and enhancing international cooperation in the area of human trafficking.
