Material covering a 1.5-hour lesson developed by the OSCE Mission in Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Includes trainer copy and student workbook.
Once the suspect is handcuffed, it is then the officer’s duty to search the suspect to ensure he/she is not carrying a weapon that could potentially endanger the lives of the suspect, the officer, and citizens. Second, he/she must know of the potential risks involved for both him/herself and the suspect when searching.
The purpose of this domain is to provide students with an overview of safety, and procedural considerations when searching a handcuffed suspect.
At the conclusion of this lesson, students will be able to demonstrate the proper procedure for search techniques, according to the information presented in this class.
