On 3 and 4 May, the Government of Tajikistan organised the high-level international conference on countering terrorism and preventing violent extremism (CT/PVE) in Dushanbe, in close co-operation with the OSCE, the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU). The event brought together around 65 delegations from different countries, and aimed at creating a common understanding of the current challenges and obstacles in the implementation of the UN Global Counter Terrorism Strategy in the region and globally, exploring opportunities for strengthening partnership and co-operation at national, regional, and international levels on CT/PVE, and exchanging experiences, all the while placing specific focus on the prevention of threats stemming from foreign terrorist fighters (FTFs).
