Summary

This lesson will deal with the more important aspects of the investigation of Missing Person reports. Many reports of Missing Persons involve small children who become lost, older children who leave their home, or elderly people who are confused. Other reports deal with kidnappings. Kosovo still has a high rate of kidnapping cases. In 2000, about 190 kidnapping cases were reported to UNMIK Police, averaging approximately 15 cases per month.

The goal of this lesson is to provide the students with an understanding of the investigation of a report of a Missing Person and the necessary skills and knowledge required to conduct such an investigation.

At the conclusion of this lesson, the student will be able to:

  1. List the most common categories of Missing Persons.
  2. Identify the information required in a Missing Person report.
  3. State the initial steps required to find a Missing Person.
  4. List those points required in a report of a found person.
  5. State the procedures for dealing with an unidentified corpse.
