Mission to Serbia organizes training for police on public communication skills

Summary

In order to assist Serbia in strengthening the trust between citizens and the police and further strengthen the community policing model, on 19-22 March in Niš, the Mission, together with the MoI, organized communication skills training for uniformed police officers at operational and supervisory levels.

Some 60 police officers from Niš, Zaječar, Bor, Kruševac, Prokuplje, Leskovac, Vranje and Pirot learned how to put the focus on a preventive approach by meeting and interacting with citizens during events like public debates, visits to schools, visits of community groups to police stations, and public information campaigns. The Mission plans to organize six additional seminars by the end of this year all across Serbia.
