Members of Public Councils on police reform received training

Summary

From 28 to 30 June a series of training events was organised by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan and the NGO Saferworld, for Public Councils members. The training sessions brought together 30 participants from the Public Councils on Police Reform, the Office of the National Co-ordinator at the MIA, the MIA Department for the Protection of Public Order and inspectors of the Gender-Sensitive Police Units and Domestic Violence.

The participants shared their knowledge and best practices on several topics such as:

  • the objectives of community policing;
  • the main aspects of a Police Reform Strategy/Program;
  • the review of Provision on Public Councils;
  • effective approaches on police community relations;
  • the prevention of domestic violence and countering radicalization and extremism among youth.

Other sessions in the training course focused on enhancing skills in drafting presentations, organizing productive meetings with local communities within the framework of Public Councils activities, as well as police-community relations.
