Border Management Staff College concluded BSMSL course

Summary

From 19th to 23rd June participants of the one-year Border Security and Management for Senior Leadership Course (BSMSL) presented and defended their coursework at the BMSC. This blended-learning study initiative was organised in partnership with the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF). The course focused on strengthening the professional competencies of current and future managers of border security agencies. The participants came from ten countries in the OSCE and partnership region.

At the end of the course the participants presented their research findings to a graduation panel. The coursework focused on subjects such as

  • innovative solutions to complex security challenges;
  • inter-agency co-operation;
  • illegal migration;
  • counter terrorism strategies;
  • non-military means to address border security threats and challenges;
  • border management modernization;
  • reform assessment, as well as
  • monitoring and evaluation.
