Summary

The purpose of the 'Investigative Interviewing' training course is to strengthen the capacity of the Macedonian Police in professional interviewing techniques and provide participants with the knowledge and skills for conducting effective and ethical cognitive interviews with witnesses and suspects according to conversation management techniques.

The course is divided in three separate modules and enables police officers (investigators) to become familiar with the latest techniques for conducting interviews with witnesses, victims or suspects. 
Cognitive Interviewing is used for interviewing people who have experienced or witnessed an incident and want to tell you about it. This model is likely to be used mostly with victims or witnesses, but can be used with suspects too.

Conversation Management which is used for interviewing people who have experience or witnessed an incident, but do not want to tell the police about it. This model is likely to be used mostly with suspects, but can be used with victims and witnesses. This method may be needed where a witness is not comfortable with the 'cognitive model'.
