Joint regional training on the practice of sport as a powerful tool for crime prevention

Summary

Following the roundtable discussion on youth crime prevention for policymakers, organised in Serbia in December 2018, the OSCE Transnational Threats Department/Strategic Police Matters Unit and UNODC organised a joint regional training on the practice of sport as a powerful tool for crime prevention, especially for youth.

Engaging 19 sport trainers (11 men and 8 women) from five South-Eastern European countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia) the training course familiarized them with the global program “Line Up, Live Up”, whose main goal is to develop relevant skills to combat drug use and prevent risky behaviours. This initiative builds on OSCE’s previous and ongoing youth engagement work in the region, supported by OSCE field operations.
