Summary

The goal of this lesson is to identify the most common street level narcotics and dangerous drugs and familiarize police officers with their use and abuse.

At the conclusion of this lesson, participants will be able to:

  1. State the eight (8) street terms most commonly associated with drug use and trafficking and explain their application.
  2. State three (3) major affects of illicit drugs on the human body.
  3. List the presence of factors that contribute or increase the effect drugs on an
    individual.
  4. Describe the stimulants cocaine, crack, amphetamine , and methamphetamine in terms of their physical characteristics, means of ingestion, effects on the user, and police safety considerations.
  5. Describe depressant tranquilizers and barbiturates in terms of their physical characteristics, means of ingestion, effects on the user, and police safetyconsiderations.
  6. Describe the hallucinogens LSD, ecstasy, and PCP in terms of their physical 
    characteristics, means of ingestion, effects on the user, and police safety considerations.
  7. Describe the opiate heroin in terms of its physical characteristics, means of ingestion, effects on the user, and police safety considerations.
  8. Describe Cannabis in terms of its physical characteristics, means of ingestion, effects on the user, and police safety considerations.
