Summary

During the last years much has been done in emphasising the importance of the police media relations. In order to reach that goal the DSPS staff has developed courses “Logic behind media”, “Media and Police relation” and “How to communicate with media?”.

Trainings are designed to cover needs of the police officers in the first line supervision course as well as the needs of the police officers in mid management course.

But, there is a need to have a better understanding about the role of media in police related issues as most of the first signs of any kind of unlawfulness can be indentified through the media analyses.

The goal of the lesson is to provide the participants of the course with adequate knowledge and know how information in relation to the role of the media in combating terrorism.

At the end of the lesson participants will be able to:

  1. Define the role of the media based on the outlined definitions in the classroom.
  2. What brings media and terrorists on the same page?
  3. What is the role and the responsibility of the media in combating terrorism?
  4. Why is monitoring of the media very important?
  5. Why is important to have a media strategy
