Summary

Basic Life Support (BLS) is a sequence of actions. These actions, taken during the first few minutes of an emergency, are critical to survival. The following activity is designed to introduce students to the provision of Infant Two-Rescuer BLS services within an integrated emergency care system. Severe or complete airway obstruction is an emergency that will result in death within minutes if not treated. These skills will provide Emergency Responders an insight on BLS services and how they fit into a continuous system of emergency care.

To allow students opportunity to observe, practice, and perform Two-Rescuer Infant CPR skills associated with basic life support.

At the end of this lesson the students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate Two-Rescuer Infant CPR.
  2. Identify when to interrupt CPR
  3. Demonstrate removing a Foreign Body Airway Obstruction – Conscious Infant
  4. Demonstrate removing a Foreign Body Airway Obstruction – Unconscious Infant
