Summary

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death of both men and woman. Sudden Cardiac death is the major complication of cardiovascular disease. The need for cardiovascular intervention is not limited to CVD. Many victims of drowning, electrocution, suffocation, airway obstruction, drug intoxication, and the like may be saved by prompt imitation of access to the chain of survival.

To provide Emergency responders an insight on basic life support services and how they fit into a continuous system of emergency care.

At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to:

  1. Explain the four links of the Chain Of Survival
  2. Describe the difference between Scene Safety and Scene Survey.
  3. Explain Body substance isolation (BSI).
  4. Explain the equipment needed for Universal Precautions.
