Until the Second World War, there used to be a vast number of different limitations regarding the movement and sojourn of foreigners caused by many reasons. After the Second World War, in most of the countries of the world a liberalization of the regime of entering, movement and sojourn of foreigners was introduced, as well as expanding the rights of foreigners in the field of the international public and private law. This liberalization was caused by several factors: the need for man power in the developed countries, the development of the tourism, the exchange of technology, the service of the international organizations and other factors.
The modern countries are prescribing the regime for movement and sojourn of foreigners with national (internal) legislative documents, but respecting the obligations stated in the international agreements.
The main legislative document in the RM with which this matter is regulated is the Law on movement and sojourn of foreigners, to which a number of sub legislative acts (rule books, guides) are attached in order to make this Law operational.
The goal of this lesson is to enable the participants of the course to fully understand the rules and procedures set in the Republic of Macedonia with the Law on movement and sojourn of foreigners.
