Summary

During this instruction, we will identify the six main causes of assassinations and outline the four basic methods in which they are carried out. We will see how these causes and methods can be of great importance to the close protection team member/bodyguard in determining how to protect an individual. Throughout history, almost every nation has experienced an assassination or an attempted assassination against its leaders or world figures. Before we can begin to protect people from assassination, we need a basic understanding as to why people carry out assassinations and what general methods are used.

The goal of this lesson is to provide the students with an understanding of the causes of assassinations and methods of attack against dignitaries.

At the conclusion of this lesson, the student will be able to:

  1. State the significance of assassination.
  2. State the history of assassination.
  3. List the six main causes of assassination.
  4. List the four basic common attack methods and weapons used for assassinations.
  5. State advantages given to terrorist groups with International and State sponsorship and list three examples of those groups.
  6. Discuss tactics used to counter assassination methods.
