Summary

The purpose of the lesson is to provide proper directions for all officers to take when responding to domestic violence incidents. It establishes the duties of the Regional Domestic Violence Coordinators and complies with UNMIK Regulations proposed to deal with domestic violence issues. The terms of “domestic relationship” and “domestic violence” and also the responsibilities of Law Enforcement Authorities are described and given in UNMIK Regulation No 2003/12 on Protection against Domestic Violence.

At the end of the lesson, participants will be able to:

  1. List and explain Basic terms mentioned in Regulation No 2003/12”.
  2. Identify the procedure that will be implemented by the police in a Domestic Violence Case
  3. List and explain responsibilities of Law Enforcement Authorities in cases of domestic violence as defined in UNMIK Regulation 2003/12
  4. State at least 4 powers of a protection order envisaged by UNMIK Regulation No 2003/12 on Protection against Domestic Violence
  5. List the three (3) forms of a protection order as defined in UNMIK Regulation 2003/12, identify when they can be petitioned for and who issues each one.
