Summary

The action taken during the first few minutes of an emergency are critical to survival of the child with a cardio respiratory emergency. The following activity is designed to introduce students to the provision of Child BLS services within an integrated emergency care system. This will provide Emergency Responder an insight on Pediatric BLS services and how they fit into a continuous system of emergency care.

To allow students opportunity to observe, practice, and perform Child CPR skills associated with basic life support.

At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate how to position a Child for CPR
  2. Demonstrate how to perform ABC’s for a Child.
  3. Demonstrate One-Rescuer Child CPR
  4. Demonstrate the Recovery Position for a Child.
