Mission in Serbia builds police capacities in preventing violent extremism

Summary

To help Serbia build its capacities in identifying and preventing violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism (VERLT), on 8-9 February, the Mission, together with the Ministry of Interior, organized a mock training exercise on preventing VERLT for seven trainers from the Uniformed Police and the Service for Countering Terrorism and Extremism.

The aim of this activity was to enable the officers, who completed the train-the-trainers course in December 2017, to try out their newly acquired training skills and fine-tune the training materials they had produced. In March, the trainers will pass their knowledge onto their colleagues during four pilot seminars to be conducted in the main Serbian cities.
