On 27 April the OSCE Mission to Skopje organised a joint workshop for police officers and prosecutors on investigating and prosecuting hate crimes. The workshop was attended by 12 prosecutors and 12 representatives from the criminal police and analysis section of the MoIA. The aim of the workshop was to identify and establish areas for co-ordination and co-operation between the two state agencies and was part of the broader engagement by the Mission in combating hate crimes and hate speech. Mission experts outlined the various developments in the area of hate crimes relevant to both police officers and prosecutors. Representatives from the youth lawyers’ association outlined the legal framework and instruments for investigating hate crimes. Experts from the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and from the OSCE Secretariat also gave presentations at the workshop.
