Summary

The most critical challenge today facing the police all over the world is building and retaining a police organisation of technically proficient, highly motivated and creative thinking police managers, working together towards common goals. Such an organisation can produce the ideas, strategies and services needed to build and sustain the effectiveness of the police in responding to challenges and problems that arise within a constantly changing environment.

One way in which this is achieved is to show staff that the organisation is not servicing itself, but has customers for its services. Those customers include the community, the prosecutors, the courts, the victims of crime and accident victims. The services include protection of life and property, protection of individual rights and freedoms, prevention of crime, and bringing criminals to justice.

The goal of this module is to familiarize the participants with utilising team skills.

At the end of the module, the participants will be able to:

  • Utilise team skills
  • Explain the benefits of conditions required for holding an interdepartmental meeting
  • Write their own self-development plan
