Mission supports Kosovo Forum of Women Judges and Prosecutors

Summary

On 6 May, the Mission supported the Kosovo Forum of Women Judges and Prosecutors to organise a workshop on international and domestic legal framework on the rights of victims of crimes. The event gathered more representatives from public institutions in Gjilan/Gnjilane and Ferizaj/Uroševac municipalities, as well as judges, prosecutors, police officers, representatives from Victim’s Advocate Offices, Centers for Social Welfare, Free Legal Aid Offices and civil society. The workshop covered areas related to the classification of victims’ rights, international human rights standards, and how these rights may be sought under the legal framework. The Kosovo Forum of Women Judges and Prosecutors committed itself to working closely with a number of selected participants in order to draft a victims’ rights catalogue with a basic overview of victims’ rights and institutions to be addressed in case of need. The Mission will continue to support relevant actors to ensure that the legal rights afforded to victims are upheld.
