Summary

On 23 and 24 August, the Mission, in co-operation with the Kosovo Security Council Secretariat, organized the seminar on inter-institutional co-operation on prevention of violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism (VERLT). This two-day seminar, in line with the Kosovo Strategy and Action Plan on prevention of VERLT 2015-2020, gathered around 30 representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister and several government ministries, Kosovo Police, Correctional Service, International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program and the Independent Media Commission. Topics discussed covered the early identification of factors affecting radicalism and the increased awareness of institutions and co-operation with the community. Additionally, the seminar focused on co-ordination of institutional activities in preventing violent extremism and radicalization, and the development and implementation of specific programmes for re-socialization and reintegration of radicalized persons.
