Summary

On 31 August to 1 September, the Mission facilitated the organization of a two-day regional
workshop in Podgorica hosted by the OSCE Secretariat, the International Organization for
Migration and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. The event aimed at strengthening crossborder
co-operation in addressing irregular migration-related crime. The workshop brought
together 110 policy-makers and law enforcement officials from relevant institutions in the
region as well as representatives of international and regional organizations and private sector
who discussed the current challenges and share best practice in addressing irregular migrationrelated
crimes and protecting victims of trafficking in human beings and the rights of migrants
and refugees.

The areas of prevention, prosecution, cross-border co-operation and assistance to victims,
migrants and refugees were closely examined during the event. The event came up with
recommendations for enhancing international and cross-border co-operation involving criminal
justice and migration officials and other relevant stakeholders.
