Regional Round Table on Law Enforcement Co-operation in Combating New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) in Eastern Europe, Joint Investigations and Advantages of a Common Data Collection System, Bucharest, Romania

The objective of the meeting is to familiarize participants from OSCE participating States (Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine as well as Romania) with national and regional practices in joint operations, information sharing and needs in combating the phenomena of NPS.

Summary

With reference to the PC Decision No. 1048 on the OSCE Concept for Combating the Threat of Illicit Drugs and the Diversion of Chemical Precursors and the 2014-2015 OSCE-wide Anti-Drug Conferences, the Transnational Threats Department (TNTD) in co-operation with the National Anti-Drug Agency of Romania will organize a regional round table entitled “Law Enforcement Co-operation in Combating New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) in Eastern Europe, Joint Investigations and Advantages of a Common Data Collection System”. 

The objective of the meeting is to familiarize participants from OSCE participating States (Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine as well as Romania) with national and regional practices in joint operations, information sharing and needs in combating the phenomena of NPS. The round table is expected to result in increased awareness and knowledge in this area, strengthened co-operation between law enforcement agencies in Eastern Europe and neighbouring countries and enhanced networking.

The target audience are deputy heads of investigation departments and heads of analytical units from Ministries of Interior, National Security, Border, Customs and Drug Control Agencies, who are directly involved in the promoting co-operation and conducting investigation of cases on NPS and/or other (synthetic) drugs.
