Description

This meeting, organised by the Transnational Threats Department/Borders Unit (TNTD/BU) and the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, aims to examine ways to promote cross-border co-operation and confidence building across the borders in the OSCE area.

Summary

Through a series of presentations and working group exercises, the NFPs, joined by experts from national agencies, international and regional organisations will address:

  • Confidence-building measures and the role of border security and management agencies. Specific discussions will include good practices, success stories and lessons identified through both institutionalized and informal cross-border co-operation mechanisms.
  • Community outreach efforts as well as trade facilitation and economic and environmental efforts as cross-border confidence building measures.
  • Establishing enough confidence to allow operational co-operation, taking into consideration modern risks, particularly corruption and information security.

In addition, the NFP Network members will have the opportunity to discuss further development of the Network and future activities and to propose initiatives to be supported by the OSCE.

Please note that only applications of nominated and confirmed participants will be accepted.

The registration deadline is 21 March 2013.
