From 25 April to 29 April the Mission, in co-operation with the Embassy of Hungary, organised a five-day training course on interception and managing of large groups of persons crossing the country’s green border illegally. The training course took place in Skopje and was delivered by trainers from the Police Academy of Szeged, Hungary. The course targeted 20 border police officers. The aim of the training course was to further enhance police officers’ skills to effectively tackle irregular border crossings while respecting fundamental human rights. It also aimed to strengthen the border police’s capacity to manage crowds and to identify criminal activities, including trafficking in human beings and the smuggling of weapons and people.
