Summary

On 23 October, the Mission supported the facilitation of second multi-ethnic ‘youth camp for better future’ as part of its fourth phase of joint OSCE-Royal Norwegian Embassy project, which aims at supporting community safety initiatives throughout Kosovo. As a result of this three-day youth camp implemented by two Local Public Safety Committees (LPSC) from the municipality of Vushtrri/Vučitrn, 50 young participants comprising females and males from Albanian and Serbian communities, and police officers from respective police stations, attended the training sessions on negotiation and advocacy and took an active part in various team-building recreational activities. Besides providing conditions for improving multi-ethnic co-operation between different ethnic groups, the event also promoted LPSCs in their municipalities and helped them establish a relationship with the Kosovo Police and other actors working in the area of community safety. This activity is part of 26 initiatives to be implemented by LPSCs in Kosovo during 2016-2017, through which the Mission will support the improvement of school safety, traffic safety, environmental conditions, and capacity building for multi-ethnic youth.
