Summary

From 9 to 11 November, the Mission supported the Kosovo Police in facilitating a three-day workshop to finalize the new draft of Community Policing Strategy and Action Plan 2017-2021, which it also helped to draft in the capacity of a working group member. The workshop sessions assisted 40 representatives of the police management, front line officers, and other local and international stakeholders to cross examine the objectives and activities foreseen within this strategy and action plan, as well as to design the community policing concept and explore ways to make it fully operational. Noteworthy is the integration of Mission-led police confidence and satisfaction programme into the new action plan, as well as its activities related to community safety in general, which largely complement the practical implementation of community policing in Kosovo. Based on this strategy, which is expected to be approved shortly by the Kosovo Police General Director, the Mission will continue with provision of support in the implementation process of the action plan.
