BiH Council of Ministers adopts an Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for Preventing and Combatting Terrorism 2015-2020

Summary

On 13 October, the BiH Council of Ministers (CoM) adopted an Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for Preventing and Combatting Terrorism 2015-2020. The Action Plan was proposed by the BiH Ministry of Security and consists of seven key areas: legislation, institutional capacities, life-long learning and practical exams, and preventing, protecting against, investigating and responding to terrorist incidents. The Action Plan is the result of an agreement between the competent institutions and agencies at all levels of government in BiH. A supervisory body is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the Strategy and Action Plan to the BiH CoM. The Strategy was drafted in consultation with civil society and with the support of the Mission. Through its activities in the area of countering violent extremism (CVE), the Mission directly supports the prevention pillar of the Strategy and provides targeted assistance in other areas. The Mission will continue with these activities in the upcoming period whilst streamlining CVE within its human rights, rule of law, governance and education programmes.
