This training will focus on humanitarian and development work and operating in hostile environments where the risk of being kidnapped/taken hostage is high.
This training forms part of TNTD/ATU’s Kidnapping for Ransom portfolio (info sheet attached), funded through extra-budgetary contributions by Liechtenstein, Spain, Switzerland and the U.S.
TNTD/ATU will rely on the tested expertise of Spain in this area, and organize this training in co-operation with the Special Training School of the Guardia Civil (Escuela de Adiestramientos Especiales), located in Logroño/Spain. It is planned as a three-day event, delivered in English by trainers from the Guardia Civil jointly with international experts. The training will include theoretical and practical sessions focussing mainly on how NGO staff could avoid being kidnapped and how victims should behave in kidnapping situations to improve their chances of survival.
