Summary

On 19 October, nineteen Afghan Border Police Officers, ranked between lieutenant and captain, completed the OSCE-supported four-week patrol leadership course. The topics of the courses covered conducting analysis and observation missions using topographical maps and satellite imagery. Personnel from the Border Service of the Russian Federation delivered training on tactical patrolling and surveillance; whereas personnel from the US Embassy in Tajikistan delivered training on first medical aid. The Office delivered training on gender mainstreaming, human rights and de-mining awareness. This was the tenth consecutive course held under the third phase of the patrol programming and leadership project.
