Organized crime prosecutors explored ways to strengthen co-operation

Summary

From 7 to 8 November, the Mission, together with the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (POOC), organized the second meeting of prosecutors for organized crime and terrorism. The purpose of the conference was to enhance regional and international prosecutorial co-operation in combatting trans-national and organized crime. Approximately 30 participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Italy, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia explored ways to intensify co-operation in cases of organized crime and terrorism. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the follow-up conference, planned to take place in Rome, Italy, in 2017. This activity is part of the Mission’s wider efforts to enhance the capacities of the POOC to combat organized crime in a more efficient and effective manner.
