This training course, aiming to train police officers on how to better respond to security challenges, while at the same time respecting human rights and civil liberties, was organised by the Mission to Skopje in co-operation with the French Embassy in Skopje.
The OSCE Mission to Skopje, in co-operation with the Interior Ministry and the French Embassy in Skopje, is training 30 police officers from the Ministry’s Special Units Department on crowd management.
During the five-day course, which started on 15 April 2013, the police officers learned how to better respond to security challenges, while at the same time respecting human rights and civil liberties, at large public events.
The course, which aims to strengthen the technical and operational capacities of the Ministry’s Training and Support Unit, was led by two French experts from the Direction Centrale des Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité (CRS) of the French National Police.
The objective of this training was to strengthen Training and Support Unit (TSU) technical and operational capacities in managing the security of large public events. Particular attention was placed on securing sports matches held in open air venues and protecting VIPs and guest players/performers.
