Summary

On 10-11 December the Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan (PCUz) supported the participation of an expert from the National Security Service in the Workshop on Terrorist Hostage Taking and Kidnapping organized in Vienna by the OSCE Transnational Threats Department.

More than 80 experts from 35 OSCE participating States and Partners for Cooperation as well as international and regional organizations shared practical experiences and knowledge, recognizing that co-operation between States and other stakeholders is a key factor in securing safe and unharmed release of victims, without ransom payments.

Recommendations from this workshop may contribute to a higher level of co-operation and intensify bilateral and multilateral exchanges in this field as well as pave the way for the launch of an International Expert Network on Countering Kidnapping and Hostage-Taking committed by terrorist groups.
