Presence in Albania encouraged a co-ordinated approach to deal with environmental crime

Summary

On 17 December the Presence in Albania organised a technical working meeting of the Inter-institutional Group on Environmental Crime, composed of representatives from 11 Albanian law enforcement agencies. The Group’s primary aim is to co-operate on investigating and prosecuting environmental crime in Albania.

Two Presence-contracted experts discussed with the Group the key strategic documents for its future work and an Institutional Development Plan and a Protocol of Information Sharing, the final versions of which will be signed by the heads of all participating institutions. The Presence reiterated its support for a co-ordinated, multi-agency approach to dealing with environmental crime. All Group members agreed to meet regularly in the coming year and strive to learn from the experience of other environmental crime task forces.
