Summary

Between 8 and 18 December, the Mission in Kosovo organized three one-day working group meetings with
the aim of establishing and supporting municipal domestic violence co-ordination mechanisms. The working group meetings were organized in Vushtrri/Vučitrn, Lipjan/Lipjane and Pejë/Peć municipalities and gathered 62 participants (22 men and 40 women, two Kosovo Serbs) including municipal stakeholders, service providers, and civil society.

The events provided the participants with an opportunity to develop terms of reference for the respective municipal co-ordination mechanisms and strengthen the response of relevant duty bearers directly involved in the identification and protection of victims of domestic violence. Furthermore, attendees made recommendations for strengthening municipal responses to supporting victims of domestic violence and highlighted the need to establish separate municipal budget lines in order to increase sustainability and enhance municipal support.
