This online forum, organised by the Strategic Police Matters Unit of the Transnational Threats Department, aims to facilitate the exchange of best practices, lessons learned, and other relevant information sharing in the area of preventing and combating sexual abuse of children on the Internet, as well as to contribute to the development of the e-learning module in the area of counter online child abuse.
In December 2009, a special thematic portal on combating online sexual exploitation of children on the Internet was created in POLIS. The Portal was designed to provide participating States’ law enforcement agencies with easy access to best practices in investigative techniques, legislative models, and awareness-raising information and to offer relevant material to the public. The Portal was also used for organizing several short-term on-line activities (forums).
The newly established online expert forum will provide participants with the possibility to share their knowledge on upcoming events, new legislation, efficient investigative methods and tools, to communicate in safe online environment, and last but not least, to contribute to the development of an online e-learning module on combating sexual abuse of children on the Internet. The e-learning module is expected to be used by law enforcement officers, police training institutions and other interested parties for blended learning (combination of traditional learning and e-learning), distant learning and self-education purposes.
The TNT/SPMU invites participants of the previously organised SPMU online activities as well as other experts and interested individuals to join the Forum.
