Summary

Between 6 September and 14 December, the Mission in Kosovo organized five one-day round-tables to present the findings of the Mission’s monitoring of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Protection from Domestic Violence. The monitoring was conducted from March to August 2015 and covered the implementation of the SOP procedures by centers for social work and victim advocates as well as municipal support provided to shelters of domestic violence.

Of note, 56 cases of domestic violence were monitored Kosovo-wide. The findings were presented and discussed with representatives from centers for social welfare, Kosovo Police domestic violence units, victim advocates, Kosovo Shelter Coalition, municipal officials and civil society with the aim to improve responses and the protection of victims’ rights when addressing cases of domestic violence.
