Description

The aim of the conference is to serve as an opportunity for further enhancement of law enforcement activities in improving prevention mechanisms and in coping with the illicit drug supply to young people

Summary

The use of illicit drugs has escalated in recent years and this is a trend worldwide. One of the most worrying aspects of the drug problem is that it affects primarily those who are most vulnerable, such as youth.

In the frame of its mandate, the OSCE supports UNODC efforts and invests its expertise in protecting youth from drug dealers by strengthening law enforcement agencies' co-operation in combating illicit drugs in the OSCE area and mobilising communities to rejpond to this threat.

The aim of the conference is to serve as an opportunity for further enhancement of law enforcement activities in improving prevention mechanisms and in coping with the illicit drug supply to young people. The participants will have an exchange of information on the emergence of routes of trafficking, new methods of illicit drugs supply to young people, including the use of modem technology to spread drugs, and have an opportunity to build stronger international and regional co-operation to combat the supply of illicit drugs.
