Description

The goal of this conference is to introduce representatives of relevant institutions in the CA region to the concept of cybercrime with due attention to regional priorities and to contribute to establishing the envisaged Cybercrime Centre in Dushanbe

Summary

Twenty-first century criminals increasingly rely on the Internet and advanced technologies to further their criminal operations. The Internet and new technologies enable them to access a large pool of potential victims via, inter alia, social networking, spamming and phishing websites, shopping or auction facilities, and carry out a diverse range of criminal acts in a short period of time and in large scales.

Based on the request by the Tajik authorities and the TNTD mandate, the conference will focus on the following topics:

  1. Disruption of computer systems (attacks against computers of individuals, government or corporate websites through disseminating viruses, worms, and other malicious software);
  2. Traditional crimes that incorporate online elements (trafficking in human beings and trafficking in narcotic drugs);
  3. Online fraud (identity theft and financial fraud);
  4. Child sexual abuse online.
