Summary

The project includes a total of eleven activities designed to:

  1. build capacity of law-enforcement aqencies and other actors of the National Action Plan (NAP) for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings:
  2. assist civil society and shelters to ensure that efficient support is provided to potential and presumed victims of trafficking; and
  3. raise public awareness about the threats of human trafficking and forced labor.

A very visible part of the project activities will be a series of workshops that the Office will conduct throughout the Country to sensitize the regional actors of the NAP to improve the identification and protection of potential and presumed victims of trafficking. Another important element of the project will be workshops that the Office will conduct to provide investigative training for the investigators of the Anti-trafficking Unit and Main Organized Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as cross border workshops for the border officials at the Azerbaijani/Georgian borders. This project will also include follow-up activity to a 2010 ODIHR-Ied project on provision of assistance to the victims of trafficking, by assisting civil society to ensure that efficient support is provided to potential and presumed victims of trafficking.

One other highly visible part of the project will be a public awareness campaign. As part of that campaign, the OSCE/UN GIFT Publication on MAnalyzing the Business Model of Trafficking in Human Beings to Better Prevent the Crime" will be translated and distributed to the relevant agencies. Additionally, posters and leaflets will be printed and disseminated in the border crossing areas of the Country.
