From 19 to 23 October in Almaty, the Office in Astana, in co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the US Embassy in Kazakhstan, organized the second in a series of three five-day training seminars on countering cybercrime. Some 30 officials from the Interior and Justice Ministries, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Revenue Committee of the Finance Ministry, the Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Countering Corruption and the Almaty Police Academy, were trained by experts from the US Secret Service through the Computer and Network Intrusion Course.
The training aimed to enhance their skills to respond to most network intrusion investigations. Participants completed the OSCE-supported Basic Investigation of Computers and Electronic Crimes Programme already June 2015.
They learned about tools and techniques to collect and analyse Random Access Memory, live data, Microsoft Windows registries, log files and event logs, as well as network packet information in investigating the computers of both victims and suspects involved in cybercrimes.
