This meeting examined, inter alia, cross-border co-operation training tools and mechanisms in the area of border security and management within the OSCE region; current and emerging security threats and how the national and regional training institutions contribute to enhancing the national services capacities to address such challenges.
The Transnational Threats Department (TNTD) in co-operation with the OSCE Border Management Staff College conducted the Meeting of the OSCE Border Security and Management Training Support Network (TS Network). The TS Network was launched in September 2014 with the purpose to strengthen ties and linkages among the specialized national border guard/police and customs training institutions to allow the OSCE participating States (pS) and Partners for Co-operation (PfC) to more fully implement the OSCE Border Security and Management Concept.
During its first meeting the TS Network members agreed on the main functions, potential modalities, mechanisms for information exchange and follow up steps to develop a TS Network into a useful platform for information exchange and co-operation among the relevant educational institutions of the OSCE pS and PfC.
During its meeting the TS Network closely examined cross-border co-operation training tools and mechanisms in the area of border security and management within the OSCE region; current and emerging security threats and how the national and regional training institutions contribute to enhancing the national services capacities to address such challenges; modern technology tools and applications and associated training to effectively utilize such technological training tools; and specialized modern technology learning platforms in the area of education and training. The participants also were invited to agree on the focus and direction of TS Network future joint activities and the potential involvement of the relevant OSCE pS national training institutions into planned OSCE border related activities.
