On 11-12 June in Almaty, the Office in Astana co-organized with the Transnational Threats Department’s Strategic Police Matters Unit and the Interior Ministry in co-ordination with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime a two-day regional workshop for cybercrime units and law enforcement officials.

Some 50 officers specializing in cybercrime investigations from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan learned from experts from Belarus, the Russian Federation, Turkey, the United States and UNODC best practices and shared their experience in fighting cybercrime, including through the use of specially trained units and the crossborder exchange of information in the region.

Participants also discussed ways to enhance coordination among law-enforcement agencies and their interaction with other governmental structures, the private sector, academia and non-governmental organizations as well as examined specific cybercrime cases and various techniques used by investigative and forensic units.
