Nine representatives of the Kosovo Police K9 Unit attended an advanced training on search and rescue delivered by the Mission in Kosovo from 5 to 9 October at the premises of the Kosovo Police Special Operations Directorate. Having previously provided the police dog handlers with basic training on this area, this advanced course further assisted them in improving the use of techniques on search and rescue operations.
In particular, this training was focused on the advanced search and rescue techniques for cadavers and human scent, as well as first responder to disasters. Additionally, the training taught the dog handlers how to enhance the police dogs learning process and how to efficiently apply principles of motivation for police dogs.
At the conclusion of the training, the participants demonstrated their skills by successfully completing a practical assessment exercise using their dogs.
