Summary

On 20 November the Project Co-ordinator in Baku (PCiB) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed a declaration to co-operate on and support combating human trafficking in Azerbaijan.

Under the declaration, USAID will support the PCiB’s projects, provide technical and financial assistance in order to prevent  human trafficking and forced labour as well as to increase efficiency with regards to dealing with cases of human trafficking. The main objective is to raise public awareness on human trafficking and to provide technical and financial assistance to civil society organizations governing asylums for victims of human trafficking and forced labour.

Moreover, the project will enhance multilateral co-ordination and co-operation on the prevention of forced labour, as well as on all forms of human trafficking via the organization of roundtable discussions. The development of recommendations in this field for the government of Azerbaijan is a further expected result.
