Summary

On 23 January, in co-operation with the Office of the National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator/Deputy Minister of Interior, the Presence in Albania organized a workshop on the investigation and prosecution of human trafficking offences.

During the workshop, the Presence in Albania introduced a set of guidelines on the correct application of the latest amendments to the Criminal Code, which affect human trafficking offences.

In addition, an Italian anti-mafia prosecutor invited by the Presence in Albania presented the Italian experience in the investigation and prosecution of human trafficking. Some 50 participants representing the regional anti-trafficking police, prosecution offices, serious crimes prosecutors and judges, international organizations and civil society attended the workshop. 

The Deputy Minister of Interior and the General Director of State Police highlighted the importance of cross-agency cooperation to fight all forms of human trafficking, including trafficking for labour exploitation.
